Game of the Week - Pine (5-0) at Albany (3-2). Going by the records Pine looks like the easy favorite. However, the Hornets have scored over 40 points a game so far this season making this game more interesting. The fact that this is the district opener for both teams and Pine’s first 3A district game ever attests to how important this game is for them. Both teams need the win before they get into the meat of their district schedule.
Should be a good one.
Notes and Quotes
"We're improving every week and starting to develop better habits. I'm extremely proud of my team's effort! They played hard until the very end." Franklinton head coach Guy Lecompte
"Battled the flu all week and had limited practice time. Thought our fist half of play was solid but fatigue and illness caught us in the second half. Another challenging opponent in Parklane Academy this coming Friday. Josiah had a good night, 23 carries for 116 yards and Kyron Cowart had 14 carries for 82 yards." Bowling Green head coach Phill Junkins
"They have a really good football team. We just have to get some kids back from injuries. That on top of some starters not traveling with us due to discipline purposes really handicaps us. When you're in 1A and you're missing six starters, for us that's six on both sides of the ball. Hopefully, the experience that some of the freshmen got will make us better in the long run but we have to get healthy." Varnado head coach Adam Brumfield
"We just ran into a really good team last night. They're big strong and fast. Our quarterback went down on the second drive of the game and it was a battle all night." Bens Ford head coach Destin Pittman
"Got to experience a great football program and atmosphere that I have a ton of respect for. Got down early but fought back to 28-21 in the fourth with the ball and couldn't finish, putting us in some spots for the game to get away. Really proud of how we played 48 minutes and kept fighting. This was the perfect final tune up for district play starting next week." Denham Springs head coach Brett Beard
"Newman is a great team and well coached. I was proud of how we competed." Pearl River head coach Eric Collins
