Game of the Week - Kentwood (4-0) at Amite (3-1). Thursday night football game. If you know anything about high school football you know about these two programs and their storied histories. I don't need to tell you that this…
Should be a good one.
Notes and Quotes
The Karr Cougars football team has had to forfeit wins in their first three games of the season according to the LHSAA website. It is unknown, as of yet, the reason for the ruling.
"I'm proud of the guy's effort! We are making progress and getting better but still have things that we need to clean up." ----Franklinton head coach Guy Lecompte
"I'm so proud of the way our team is playing. We knew this would be another close game. They came out and jumped on us 21-7 but we never dropped our heads. Each week at critical points in the game a different player steps up for us. Von Johnson had 130 yard and two touchdowns, James Owens 73 yards and Kemontre Magee 78. Luke Spears passed for 113 yards with DJ Garrett catching for 94 yards." ----Pine head coach Bradley Seal
"Very proud of our effort. Couple of big plays cost us. We will get some things fixed and get after PCS." ----Bowling Green head coach Phill Junkins
"I was happy for our kids. We had several kids quit this week and some of that negativity being gone helped bring us closer together. There were a lot of distractions from people with their own agendas that was really unfortunate. I thought our kids and staff done a great job navigating through it and finding a way to win. We have a tough matchup against a really good 3A school next week so hopefully we have a good week of practice and keep improving." ----Varnado head coach Adam Brumfield
"They (Franklinton) scared me more than you know because I saw them getting a lot better every week and I have all the respect in the world for Guy. I loved every second of being back and visiting with old friends. A great game, we started slow and were able to keep grinding and staying within striking distance and capitalize off of momentum swings for us and weather the storm from them. Stepped up when big plays were needed and so proud of our offensive line. Our special teams were special again and that has been a huge success for us. Our kids are growing up and need that type of game versus a big time opponent." ----Denham Springs head coach Brett Beard. (Brett Beard is a former FHS assistant coach.)
"Proud of the way we played. Played as a team last night." --- Pearl River head coach Eric Collins
