Throwing the ceremonial first pitch on Monday, March 11, was Franklinton High School's Coach Nathan Murray.
If one is from Washington Parish, he or she will likely recognize that Coach Murray comes from a long line of great Washington Parish coaches.
He prepped at Bowling Green High School and then played at Pearl River Community College where he helped lead his team to the 2002 JUCO World Series. He then attended the University of New Orleans and was a 3-year starter at shortstop for the Privateers.
Nate is also a proud alumnus of Athletes in Action, participating in the inaugural season of the Texas Collegiate League as an all-star. Upon graduation, he was an assistant at Pearl River Community College for two years, helping the program compile over 70 wins.
In 2008 he came to Franklinton High School and joined the baseball coaching staff until 2018 when he became the head soccer coach.
Coach Murray has been teaching JAG, a federal program, since 2017 and is active with the FHS media program.
He wishes everyone to know that it was an honor to have shared the dugout with legendary Coach Jeff Tageant for 12 years and the program could not be in better hands than with Coach Clay Tageant. He feels #42 will bring Demon baseball to the next level.
Nate is the son of Bill and Lisa Murray and is married to Savannah, a local medical provider. They are the proud parents of Jozy, Eli, Noah, and Charlee Dawn. Catching him was #6, sophomore catcher Daron Sinceno.
