The Franklinton Junior High Falcons football team keeps rolling along as they defeated Varnado 37-6 last Tuesday night in Demon Stadium. The win moved their record to 5-0 as they move towards the Washington Parish Junior High championship.
The Falcons scored on their opening drive of the game when quarterback Jayden Burkhalter passed 53 yards to Avantez Brumfield for a touchdown. Varnado allowed a safety on their opening possession and the Falcons were up 8-0. The Falcons then scored on a 41 yard run by Nigel Cole to go up 15-0 after Austin Barber hit the extra point.
After forcing a Wildcat punt, the Falcons scored again when Avantez Brumfield went in from eight yards out. The score put the Falcons up 21-0 with 7:50 left in the second quarter. Varnado fumbled on their next possession with the Falcons recovering at the Wildcat 12. The Falcons scored on a 28 yard field goal by Austin Barber to go up 24-0 which would be the score at the halftime intermission.
Brumfield intercepted a Wildcat pass in the third quarter then, on the ensuing possession caught a seven yard pass from Burkhalter to put the Falcons up 31-0 after a successful extra point kick.
The Falcons scored their final score when Blaize Rogouski rambled 22 yards for a touchdown in the fourth to go up 37-0.
The Wildcats scored late as their top player ripped off a 40 yard run to put them on the scoreboard at 37-6, which would be the final score of the game.
The Falcons will be back in action on October 11 against Pine at home in Demon Stadium
