Washington Parish School Board Member David Pettit threw out the ceremonial first pitch for Demon Baseball on Tuesday, February 27
David "Big Dave" is the son of Beth Jenkins Pettit and the late Mike Pettit. His mom taught in the Washington Parish School system for 35 years.
His dad played Demon baseball for the original Coach Tageant as a 1st baseman in 1970 and the team was the State Runners-up. He is married to Marissa Smith Pettit, and they have a daughter Marleigh, a 2023 graduate of FHS who is attending LSU. Their son Ethan is a junior at FHS.
David was a state champion football player at Bowling Green where he graduated in 1999. However, some of his best sports memories involve attending Demon Baseball Camp every summer.
In January 2023 David began his first term representing District 7 on the Washington Parish School Board and serves on the Capital Improvement and Transportation Committees. It is through his job as Project Manager at Creel Brothers that enables him to offer assistance to the FHS baseball program and other sports. David can also often be found preparing jambalaya for the Demons and visiting teams.
Pettit stated, "Franklinton High School and Demon baseball have always meant a lot to my family, and I am thankful that I am in a "hands on" position and proud to be of service to the students and educators of the parish.
Catching him was his cousin, sophomore infielder #11 Kaedyn Jenkins.
