The Franklinton Junior High Falcons football team won another big game last week over the Pine Junior high Raiders 32-0 on the road. The Falcons are now 4-0 on the season.
The Falcons first drive of the game ended with a six yard run by Chakyn McClain at the 3:39 mark of the first period. The two point conversion was no good and the Falcons were up 6-0.
The Falcons scored again on their second drive as Avantez Brumfield ripped off a 58 yard touchdown run at the 7:49 mark in the second period for a 12-0 score. The two point conversion was again no good.
The Falcons scored again on their third drive when McClain ran it in from 54 yards out at the 5:12 mark of the second. Austin Barber kicked the extra point for a 19-0 score and that would be the score at the half even as the Falcons were at the Pine 26 yard line when time ran out for the intermission.
To open the second half the Raiders attempted an onsides kick which was picked up by the Falcons’ Avantez Brumfield and returned 66 yards for a Falcon touchdown. Austin Barber made the extra point again and the score was 26-0.
After the Raiders moved the ball some and burned some time off the clock the Falcons took over and scored on a 31 yard run by quarterback Jayden Burkhalter for a 32-0 score. Neither team scored in the fourth and 32-0 was the final score.
Coach Andy Creel was particularly pleased with his Falcons defense noting that the Raiders were not allowed across midfield until the fourth period. "I thought that we played well in all three phases of the game, especially on defense. Our defense played outstanding all night!"
The Falcons will play at Mt Hermon on Oct. 4.
