The Franklinton Demons baseball team had a solid week last week as they won two of three games and remain in contention for the district championship and a home playoff game in the first round.
The Demons defeated Loranger (14-7) and Lakeshore (9-2) while falling to Loranger (10-1).
The Demons currently have a nice 15-7 record overall and a 7-2 district record. The Demons’ next, and final regular season, game will be on April 15.
Against Lakeshore the Demons and Titans battled for one scoreless inning before the Titans scored a run in the bottom of the second using a walk and a single. It was the fourth inning before the Demons got on the scoreboard and took the lead with three runs. A leadoff walk by Micah Wascom and singles by Elisha Hart and JoJo Burkhalter plated the first run before Kaden Breaux hit into a fielder's choice that scored two more.
The Titans managed a run in the bottom of the fourth on an error and a double to tighten the score at 3-2.
The Demons, however, broke the game open in the fifth as they scored four more runs on two walks and a single by Sinceno to load the bases before JoJo Burkhalter hit a triple to push in three runs.
The Demons added two more in the last innings for a nice 9-2 win over Lakeshore.
JoJo Burkhalter was the leading hitter for the Demons with a single and a huge triple. TJ Bailey, Elisha Hart, DaRon Sinceno, Rickken Burkhalter, Micah Wascom and Kaden Buffinet each had singles.
Kaedyn Jenkins pitched four complete innings allowing just two hits, one walk and striking out two. Jordy Thomassen pitched three complete innings allowing just two hits, one walk and striking out four.
