The Bowling Green Lady Bucs hosted Lumberton High School and Bay High School while traveling to Amite School Center before Christmas. They also participated in the Copiah Academy Christmas Tournament beginning two days after Christmas.
On December 18, the Lady Bucs took on Lumberton in a home contest. Each team scored 11 points in the opening quarter. BGS outscored Lumberton 17-9 in the second quarter and led 28-20 at the half. Bowling Green extended their lead with a 17-8 third-quarter advantage. The Lady Bucs won the fourth 4-3 to earn a 53-29 win.
Chloe Bertrand scored 14 points with 4 steals with Sydney Verret and Lanah Martinez each having 8 points and 3 rebounds. Claire Wascom added 7 points with 3 rebounds, Lydia Tullos had 6 points with 3 rebounds, Berkely Goings and Reese King each scored 4 points, and Claire Varnado finished with 2.
The following night, the Lady Bucs traveled to Liberty, Mississippi to face the Rebels of Amite School Center. BGS held a 13-3 lead after one quarter. A 20-2 second quarter advantage extended their lead with BGS leading 33-5 at halftime. The Lady Bucs outscored the Rebels 12-9 in the third before ASC captured the fourth by a 12-4 margin. Bowling Green finished with a 49-26 road win.
Claire Wascom led with 20 points and 4 steals with Chloe Bertrand (4 assists) and Lydia Tullos (5 rebounds) each scoring 7. Berkley Goings, Lanah Martinez and Aubrie Galloway added 4 points each, Reese King had 2 points and Claire Varnado finished with 1.
In their final game before Christmas, Bowling Green hosted Bay High School from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The visitors held a 27-18 lead at the half. Bay High increased their lead with an 11-2 third quarter advantage. The Lady Bucs won the fourth 9-5, but Bay High claimed a 43-29 win.
Chloe Bertrand led with 22 points, Claire Wascom scored 4 with 3 rebounds and Lanah Martinez added 3 points and 2 blocked shots.
Last Thursday the Lady Bucs played in the Copiah Academy Christmas Tournament in Gallman, Mississippi. Bowling Green faced Tri-County in opening round play. BGS opened the game with a 19-4 lead after the first quarter. An 11-10 second quarter advantage put the Lady Bucs ahead 30-14 at halftime. Bowling Green increased their lead by outscoring the Rebels 10-6 in the third quarter. BGS followed with a 9-7 fourth quarter to earn a 49-27 win over Tri-County.
Chloe Bertrand led with 11 points and 4 assists, Bailey Devall scored 10 with 4 rebounds, and Lydia Tullos (4 rebounds) and Berkley Goings (3 assists) each had 8 points. Claire Wascom added 5 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, Lanah Martinez had 3 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists with Sydney Verret (3 rebounds) and Hazel Burford finishing with 2 points each.
