The Bowling Green Bucs and Lady Bucs finished off 2021 with three games last week.
The Lady Bucs hosted Centreville Academy last Tuesday. The Lady Tigers held a 15-12 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Bucs roared back with a 32-4 second-quarter advantage to lead 44-19 at the half. Centreville Academy won the third quarter by a 23-11 margin. The Lady Bucs 9-8 fourth-quarter advantage finished off a 64-50 BGS win.
Claire Wascom (4 rebounds and 2 steals) led in scoring with 14 points while Peyton Dupuy (2 rebounds and 2 steals) had 12 and Anna Claire Crowe (3 assists and 3 rebounds) and Chloe Bertrand (2 rebounds and 2 steals) each added 11. Bridget Devall had 8 points with 4 rebounds and 2 steals, Kaka Seal added 7 points with 4 steals and 2 rebounds with Baileigh Crain finishing with 2 points and 2 rebounds.
Wednesday the Lady Bucs traveled to Mendenhall, MS to face the Simpson Academy Lady Cougars. Bowling Green outscored Simpson Academy 16-10 in the opening period. The Lady Cougars rebounded with a 14-9 second-quarter advantage and led 26-24 at the half. Simpson increased their lead by outscoring the Lady Bucs 14-3 in the third quarter. Bowling Green mounted a comeback in the fourth by outscoring the Lady Cougars 17-11, but it wasn't enough as Simpson Academy captured a 49-45 win.
Kaka Seal led the Lady Bucs with 12 points to go with 3 steals and 3 assists, Anna Claire Crowe scored 11 with 4 rebounds and Hope Crowe had 2 steals and 2 blocks. Claire Wascom scored 7 points with a team-high 9 rebounds, Chloe Bertrand had 4 points and 5 rebounds, Bailey Devall added 3 points with 8 rebounds and Bridget Devall finished with 2 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
The Lady Bucs traveled to Baton Rouge Thursday to face the CHEF Lady Patriots. Bowling Green held a commanding 32-4 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Patriots outscored BGS 13-4 in the second with the Lady Bucs leading 36-17 at the half. Each team scored 12 points in the third quarter. The Lady Bucs held a slim 7-6 advantage in the fourth while finishing with a 55-35 win.
Chloe Bertrand and Claire Wascom led BGS in scoring with 11 and 10 points respectively. Bailey Devall and Kaka Seal each scored 7 points, Peyton Dupuy and Hope Crowe had 6 each, Bridget Devall added 4 points with Hallie Serigne and Baileigh Crain Dupuy scoring 2 points each.
The Buccaneers took on the Centreville Academy Tigers Tuesday. Bowling Green led 15-8 after the first quarter. The Bucs outscored CA 13-5 in the second and led 28-13 at the half. Bowling Green dominated the third quarter with a 21-6 advantage. A 14-9 fourth-quarter increased the margin of victory with the Buccaneers earning a 63-28 win.
Nathan Jenkins led the Bucs with 18 points, Zeke Burford scored 9 while Hunter Thomas and Weston Bush each had 8 points. Will Hollywood scored 6 points in the game, Connor Dedon and Matthew Hicks each had 4 points with Peyton Sumrall, Nate Keen and Trey Guffey all finishing with 2 points.
In the Bucs game against CHEF, each team scored 11 points in the opening period. The Patriots outscored BGS 13-11 in the second and led 24-22 at the half. The Bucs outscored CHEF 18-9 in the third. A 23-14 fourth-quarter advantage for the Patriots led to a 62-54 win over the Bucs.
Gage Richardson led the Bucs with 19 points, Zeke Burford had 12 points and Weston Bush scored 9. Peyton Sumrall scored 7 points, Will Hollywood had 5 and Connor Dedon finished with 2 points.
