Franklinton Varsity Lady Demons traveled to Covington Monday night February 19, and faced the Covington Varsity Lady Lions. The Demons took a tough loss 11-0. The Lady Lions got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Franklinton committed an error, Bailey Sambola tripled, Franklinton committed an error, and Megan Wicker hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.
The Lady Lions scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. An error scored one run, Natalie Clelland singled, scoring one run, and Catelyn Yeager homered to center field, scoring three runs.
Wicker earned the win for Covington Varsity Lady Lions. The starting pitcher surrender one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking three. Skylar Branch took the loss for Franklinton Varsity Lady Demons. The starting pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out six and walking three.
Shyanne Burris led Franklinton Varsity Lady Demons with one hit in two at bats.
Sambola led Covington Varsity Lady Lions with three hits in three at bats. Yeager went 1 for 4 at the plate as they led the team with four runs batted in. Covington Varsity Lady Lions were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Yeager had the most chances in the field with nine.
Franklinton Varsity Lady Demons will travel to Fontainbleau Varsity Lady Dawgs for their next game on Thursday.
