The Franklinton Junior High Falcons football team recently played the Pine junior high Raiders and came out on the bad side of a 7-0 score. Despite the loss Coach Andy Creel and his Falcons remain in contention for the Washington Parish Junior High Championship to be held on November 16 at Varnado. The two teams with the best records of the four parish Junior High teams qualify for the Championship game.
Against the Raiders, Pine opened with possession and drove to the Falcons 32 yard line and scored on a third down and 8 when the quarterback, Tray Knight, scrambled away from pressure from the Falcons and connected with a receiver for a touchdown. The extra point kick was good and the Raiders had a 7-0 lead with 4:32 left in the first quarter.
The Falcons went three and out before Damikies McClain intercepted a Raiders pass on Pine's ensuing possession and returned it to the Raider 22. However, the Falcons squandered a great opportunity and fumbled the ball back to the Raiders on the next play. The teams traded punts after that until the halftime intermission.
The Falcons took the second half kickoff at their 22 and used the entire third period on a 15 play drive all the way to the Raider ten yard line where it stalled out and they turned it over on downs. After that neither team threatened to score and the Raiders won 7-0.
