The Franklinton Junior High Falcons football team won another game as they continue to move through their schedule. The Falcons defeated Mt Hermon 36-20 last Tuesday.
The Falcon scored on the second play of the game when Avantez Brumfield ran 48 yards for a touchdown. Chakyn McClain ran in the two point conversion to put them up 8-0.
The Yellow Jackets returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown but failed on the two point conversion and trailed 8-6.
Falcons quarterback Jayden Burkhalter scored on the first play of their next drive as he connected with Tyler Magee on a 52 yard touchdown pass to put the Falcons up 14-6.
After Mt Hermon turned the ball over on downs the Falcons scored on a 48 yard run by Avantez Brumfield to go up 20-6 after the conversion was no good again.
A.J. Barber, Falcons kicker, picked up a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and returned it 22 yards for a touchdown to put the Falcons up 28-6.
In the second half the Falcons played a lot of younger players to get them some experience. Mt Hermon again returned a kickoff for a touchdown as Ricardo Burris went 74 yards for the Yellow Jackets. The two point conversion was no good and the Falcons remained on top 28-12.
The Falcons put together a drive that was capped off by Nigel Cole who scored from four yards out before Jayden Burkhalter ran in the two point conversion for a 36-12 lead for the Falcons.
The Yellow Jackets then scored as Kerston Diddon passed to Ricardo Burris for a 64 yard touchdown with just twenty two seconds left in the game. The Falcons ran out the clock and preserved the victory.
The Falcons will play Varnado at home on Tuesday, September 27 for their next game. Homecoming will be celebrated before this game.
Meanwhile, Mount Hermon and Pine Junior High will tangle next Tuesday (September 27) at Mount Hermon. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
