The Pine Raiders defeated Avoyelles Friday evening to advance into the LHSAA Class 3A football quarterfinals.
Pine led Avoyelles by only 7-6 at halftime, but the Raiders came alive in the second half, outscoring Avoyelles 21-0 to win with the final score of 28-6.
With the win, the Raiders pushed their season record to a school-record 10-2 and will advance to a quarterfinal game this week against Sterlington, the #2 ranked team in the LHSAA Class 3A playoffs.
Sterlington moved its season record to 10-1 by defeating Mansfield 35-15 in a second round game this past Thursday.
The Pine-Sterlington game will be held at the Sterlington High School football field. Sterlington is located north of Monroe on U.S. 165.
