In his final appearance as a baseball coach, Coach Jeff Tageant led the Louisiana Purple team to the championship of the Southeastern Underclassmen Shootout. Jeff tageant is the recently retired head baseball coach at Franklinton High School.
The tournament was held at Troy University in Troy, Alabama, June 20 through 22. LA Purple battled back through the bracket after losing its opener to Team Alabama 5-4. They went on to defeat the same Alabama team in the championship game 11-1.
The Tageant-coached Louisiana Purple team was awarded the gold medal for their performance.
Micah Wascom, who will be a senior at Franklinton High School in 2023-2024, played on the Louisiana Purple team. Micah also plays for Coach Clay Tageant and the Franklinton Demons.
