Parish Playoff Picture - This week we'll continue looking at the playoff picture for the four parish teams with two weeks to go before the playoffs.
Franklinton is currently at #26 in the power ratings dropping only one spot after their loss last week. They seriously need a win though to move up in the ratings and possibly to keep from falling out.
Bogalusa is at #18 falling three spots as they didn't play last week. With two games to go here is their scenario: Win both and get a home playoff game. Split and still possible but lose both and not likely but still certainly in the playoffs.
Pine fell four spots to #12 after their loss to Kentwood. With two games left their scenario is exactly like Bogalusa's. Playoffs are a lock. Need to win to secure a home playoff game.
Varnado is at #37 and needs to win some games to get into the top 32. They have a winnable game this week that could help them.
Notes and Quotes
"We didn't play well in any aspect of the game. We lost all three phases of the game in the first half, offense, defense and special teams all gave up scores. We have not responded well to adversity and that falls on me. We still have an opportunity to win the district and we will do everything we can to prepare to do that moving forward." Franklinton head football coach Jonathon Barber
"We did the number one thing you can't do against Kentwood and that's give up the big play. We got ourself in a hole and couldn't did out. We have another big game this week versus Amite and need to correct our mistakes." Pine head football coach Bradley Seal
"Our kids played hard. It was 13-12 at halftime, we just ran out of gas. We don't have a lot of depth because numbers are low this year. We have some injuries and when some kids choose to go to the Fair instead of the game it puts the other kids in a bind and it's pretty disappointing. These are the same kids who didn't come during the summer. It goes back to what we were preaching at the beginning of the year about commitment, dedication and unselfishness. These are things that you need in order to be successful and we have to keep working to get it. I'm proud of my kids that came all week. They performed well last night. I don't have many but the ones who strapped it on last night are good football players. They are fighters and they played hard." Varnado head football coach Adam Brumfield
"Very proud of the way our young men competed, executed the plan and most importantly finished. We are getting better every week and starting to play a brand of football that's fun to watch. Offensively we are growing every week and saw some glimpses of an identity last night after dealing with all our injuries." Denham Springs head football coach Brett Beard
"Tough one last night. I really feel like we dominated the game and came up just short. The boys have played with relentless effort the past three weeks and it has shown. They have quietly grown into a pretty good football team. I'm super proud of them and their effort." Mandeville head football coach Hutch Gonzales
"In a packed Independence Tiger stadium, looked like the old Amite-Indy rivalry. An extremely talented Amite was more than we could handle. Quick scores in the first quarter put us behind the eight ball. Amite did a great job keeping our offense off the field. Too many three and outs. We fought four quarters. Our guys never quit! We continue to fight and improve. This coming week we have a very athletic Varnado team. We have to work hard, keep getting better. We will do just that." Independence head football coach Scott Shaffett
"Having our quarterback almost back to full strength was a big plus for us last night. Jalen has been dealing with an injury last few weeks that has limited him but he's getting healthy and we were able to open up the offense some last night. Ashton Terrell was stellar on offense totaling three touchdowns and our defense pitched a shutout last night! Short week coming up as we prepare for dangerous Pine team that loves to pound the ball." Amite head football
coach Zephaniah Powell
