LSU won the College World Series Sunday afternoon, defeating Coastal Carolina 5-3 at Omaha, Nebraska.
For the Tigers, it is their 2nd CWS championship in three years, having also won it in 2023.

LSU won Game #1 of the 3 game Championship series Saturday evening, defeating Coastal Carolina 1-0 in a tense ballgame that showcased some of the nation's top college baseball players.
The Tigers will face Coastal Carolina again today (Sunday) at 1:30 pm on ESPN in Game #2. Game #3, only if necessary, will be played Monday.
The high temperature in Omaha today (Sunday) is predicted to be 97 degrees, with a "feels like" temperature of over 100 degrees. The brutal heat will be tough on the players as well as the fans in the stands.
LSU ace pitcher Wade Anderson, who went to St. Paul's School in Covington, claimed Saturday's Game #1 win with a complete game shutout, only the 3rd in the entire history of the College World Series.
If LSU wins today, they will become the champions of the College World Series once again. If they lose today, they will still have another crack at the championship on Monday.

GAME ONE OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES IS 6 PM SATURDAY
The LSU Tigers will move into the championship series of the NCAA College World Series, thanks to a dramatic win over Arkansas last night (Wednesday night).
Trailing 5-3 headed into the bottom of the ninth inning, LSU’s Luis Hernandez hit a line drive to left field and it was misplayed by Razorback outfielder Charles Davalan. Before he could grab the missed ball, 2 LSU runs had scored to tie the game.
Jaren Jones then came to bat and hit a walk-off RBI single to end the game with the LSU 6-5 victory.
The championship series will begin Saturday night, with LSU and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers battling it out in Game one of the best-of-3-series to determine the 2025 National Champion.
Coastal Carolina moved into the championship series with its easy 11-3 win over Louisville. Coastal Carolina’s victory over Louisville was their 26th consecutive win, an NCAA record in baseball.
In Saturday night’s championship series opening game, Coastal Carolina will use its strongest pitcher, Jacob Morrison, who struck out 16 straight batters in the win over Oregon State in the 2025 College World Series opening game. Morrison is 6'8” and has an ERA of 2.08 this season, which is the best of any pitcher in this year’s College World Series.
LSU will open with left-handed pitcher Kade Anderson of Madisonville, who had a very strong game in LSU’s first College World Series defeat of Arkansas.
Some high school baseball fans in the Franklinton area might remember Anderson as an outstanding pitcher at St. Paul’s School in Covington, where he graduated in 2023 and received a full baseball scholarship to LSU.
The 6’2” Anderson has a 2025 season ERA of 3.44 and is 11-1 on the season so far.
Game one of the championship series starts Saturday at 6 p.m. Game two will be played Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
If necessary, game three will be played on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
