Louisiana Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser will highlight an appreciation breakfast this coming Saturday for Washington Parish firefighters.
The event is set to begin at 8 a.m. at the District 7 fire station on Bill Booty Road.
Some local elected officials are also planning to attend.
The breakfast is not open to the public and it is intended to be a “thank you” event for parish firefighters and their spouses. All Washington Parish firefighters are invited to attend along with their spouse. More than 100 firefighters and spouses are expected to attend.
Nungesser said he will be at the event to thank “the firefighters who do a selfless job of protecting the people of Washington Parish.”
The appreciation breakfast comes at a time when some fire departments in the parish are shorthanded because of lack of volunteers. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter should contact one of the parish fire departments.
