Once again during this year’s fair, spelling champions from the schools in Washington Parish will put their skils to the test at the Mile Branch Spelling Bee.
5th and 6th grade school spelling champions will converge on the Old Mount Hermon School in Mile Branch Settlement on October 22.
The Mile Branch Spelling Bee starts at 4 pm on the 22nd, but spelling contestants need to arrive by 3:45 pm.
Carolyn McElveen is once again the chairperson for the event, with assistance from Joan Kennedy. Toni tageant, and Ann Parker.
All contestants must be Washington Parish residents. Each school must reach a winner and an alternate from both the fifth and sixth grades. Schools need to submit the names of their winners and alternates not later than October 16.
