Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. today (Saturday) for a Washington Parish millage renewal election.
Parish officials have stressed that the millages on the ballot are not new taxes, but rather renewals.
Parish President Ryan Seal has noted that renewing the millages is important because they help keep the parish connected, healthy, and running smoothly.
The millage renewals that are on the ballot are:
•Washington Parish Library - 4.6 Mills
•Health Units - 3.11 Mills
•Parish Roads - 4.13 Mills
•Courthouse and Public Building Maintenance - 1.03 Mills
In a statement, Seal said,”These four millage renewals support services that many of us depend on daily, often without even realizing it. Whether it's accessing healthcare, reliable roads, free internet at the library, or well-maintained public facilities - these investments quietly keep Washington Parish moving forward.”
He added, “While each renewal addresses a different need, all share a common goal: Strengthening the quality of life for residents across our parish.”
