Beautiful new sidewalks alongside Main Street leading up to the Fairgrounds are now in place. People attending the 2025 Fair in just a few weeks will find it much easier to walk to the Fairgrounds.
The new sidewalks are part of a large sidewalk improvement program for Franklinton that was spearheaded by the Parish Government with a grant from the state Department of Transportation and Development. New sidewalks are in place around the Courthouse and running alongside Main Street all the way to Washington Street. The next phase of the program will result in the same style of new sidewalks going south on Main Street well on past Riverside Medical Center.
Citizen appreciation for the new sidewalks has been gratifying to the Parish Government officials, past and present, who initiated the program. The beautiful sidewalks are a big boost for Franklinton, particularly as thousands of visitors prepare to visit the town for the Fair.
