Excessive speed leads to drug arrests

Washington Parish Sheriff's Office narcotics detectives were traveling on Highway 21 north of Varnado last week when they observed a Mississippi licensed truck being driven southbound at an excessive speed. The truck was stopped near the entrance to Rayburn Correctional Center and the driver, Devree Devonte Allen, 35, a resident of Arthur B.

Students visit library, receive library cards

14 different junior high school classes in Washington Parish visited the Franklinton Library on Main Street during the past month. During the visits, a total of 200 new library cards were sign up for by the students.
