Chicago alt-weekly survives column clash, going nonprofit

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Reader, the city's famed alt-weekly, is expected to become a nonprofit this month after the sale was nearly derailed over a co-owner's column opposing COVID-19 vaccine requirements for children.

Some Franklinton residents have expressed concern about the lengthy closure of Carter Street at its intersection with Main Street. Located south of downtown Franklinton, Carter itself is a very short street, but it connects to busy Harrison Street, which feeds into the East Acres subdivision.
