Happy Wednesday! I hope you all took a moment to reflect on the bravery and dedication of our fallen heroes on Memorial Day. Their sacrifice shall never be forgotten.
I want to wish a special Happy Birthday to my uncle Leroy McElveen (May 21st), and to my mom, Rachel Gill (May 26th). I hope you both had a fabulous day!
Condolences to the family and friends of Mrs. Carolyn Lanford Lebo.

Congratulations to Emma Kieffer for being chosen as the MHS Student of the Year, and to Reedan Smith, Jr. High Student of the Year!
MHS Pre-K students went on a field trip to Mulberry Corner in Franklinton. They were taught how pottery is made, and were able to make some creations of their own. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders visited the Insta-Gator Ranch and Hatchery in Covington. They learned about the history, anatomy and conservation of the American alligator. They also fed them, and learned how to catch and hold baby alligators properly.
3rd, 4th and 5th graders enjoyed a very interesting and informative tour by some wonderful volunteers at Mile Branch Settlement. Louisiana Snake ID was at Bogue Chitto State Park to educate them about snakes and busting common myths, and to hold the non-venomous snakes. Also, the high school Biology students of Brandi Kerbow visited the Marine Education Center in Ocean Springs, MS. The students got to do a first hand shark dissection, as well as dichotomous key usage, and more. They all learned a lot, were well behaved, and had a fun day.
Saturday, May 10th, the 25 Seniors of the Class of 2025 received their diplomas. It was a very nice ceremony, and an emotional one for me as my son, Tristan Freeman, was one of the graduates. I’ve known most of this class since they were in Pre-K, and I’m so proud of all they have accomplished. May God bless each of you in your future endeavors. As the class motto states, “Chase your dreams, but always know the road that will lead you home again.” -Tim McGraw
