Good day to you all! A big thank you to all who attended the community/school board meeting this past Thursday evening. It was so great to see so many show up to support MHS! Also, thank you to all of those who spoke on behalf of MHS students, alumni, parents, and citizens.
Celebrate Freedom Week is going on now at Mt. Hermon School! Students are diving into special Social Studies lessons to learn about the sacrifices made for freedom and the core values behind the founding of the United States. This Friday, students may wear patriotic colors of red, white, or blue with uniform bottoms.
The next jr. high football game is Tuesday, September 22nd at 5:30 PM in Pine.
See You at the Pole (praying around the flag pole before school starts) is Wednesday, September 23rd.
Homecoming Spirit dress up days also begins Wednesday, September 23rd with a theme of “Tame the Wildcats”. Thursday, the 24th is “Color War” day. PreK-2nd wears pink, 3rd-5th wears orange, 6th-8th wears purple, and 9th-12th wears black. Friday’s theme is “Country vs. Country Club”. Monday is “Dress Like Your Favorite Teacher”, and Tuesday, September 29th is “Black and Gold Day”. Tuesday, September 29th, MHS Yellowjackets will tame the Varnado Wildcats. The game begins at 5:30. Prior to the game at 5:00, the Homecoming Court will be presented.

Congratulations to Master Trooper Keith Briggs on your retirement from Louisiana State Police! Master Trooper Briggs dedicated 24 years to Transportation Safety Services, a specialized division within the Louisiana State Police. Thank you for your service and dedication to the state of Louisiana!
The Hope Alive Recovery group of Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church will be presenting The Empty Chair Project at the Washington Parish Courthouse this Friday, September 18th at 10 AM. All are invited to stand with us as we gather to remember the lives lost to drug poisoning in Washington Parish. Let’s come together for a time of healing and hope.
Each empty chair will represent a life lost in Washington Parish this year. Please contact Mandi Boyd at 985-335-0713 if you would like to bring a personalized chair or photo to display at the ceremony in memory of a loved one lost to overdose at any time in the past.
