Greetings to all! We are in the third week of June already and summertime is here. It surely was good to get rain last week on Tuesday, June 10th.
June is National Dairy Month!
A special salute to all our dairy farmers. We are thankful for our dairy industry and having the opportunity to enjoy all the great dairy products that play an important part of our daily diet, providing vitamins for strong bones and healthy teeth. Dairy farmers work long endless hours, seven days a week with NO holidays.
I grew up on a dairy farm and those cows have to be milked twice a day no matter what is going on. I had to get up at 3 AM in order to milk and get ready for school. Soon after I got in from school, it wasn't long till it was milking time again. Dairying is a family business that requires hard work and dedication.
Happy birthday to my family and friends who celebrate their birthday in June. Have a blessed day. My great great niece Charolette Grace Watson, my cousin Barbara Knight Gerald, Mrs. Elaine Corkern Barber, Savannah Weems, Brenna Zenon, Madeline White, Stephanie White, Weston Woody Kerbow, Joshua Burch, Gage Moran, Nickolas Schilling, Chase Gros, Justin Dupre, Bruce Alford, Zachary Holmes, Tristan Taylor, Kingston Seal, Aaron Beck, Thomas Taylor, Jason Feyes, Haley Duncan, Lashay, Lebo, Skylar-Rae Lewis, Alyssa Bennett, Michelle Hines, and Marilyn McClendon.
During the month of May several Mt Hermon School classes enjoyed going on field trips. K-2nd grade went to the alligator farm. 3rd-5th grade toured Mile Branch Settlement on the fairgrounds and onto the state park. Miss Faith's class went to the "Museum of Art". The biology class had a field trip on May 5th.
MHS high school graduation was Saturday, May 10th, Pre-K and Kindergarten graduation was May 8th in the school gymnasium. Parents and family attended. They all did their parts and made the parents proud.
Teachers' appreciation was held at MHS a couple weeks before school was out. Food was set up in the lounge. Everyone enjoyed all the goodies. This was a special time to show appreciation to our wonderful teachers for what they do for their students. They go beyond the call of duty. Special thanks to those who brought food during the week.
The awards program was held on Thursday morning on the last day of school at MHS, May 22nd. Elementary began at 8:30 AM with Jr. High and High School to follow. I enjoyed seeing the students receiving recognition (certificates, awards, and metals). Several came to me and got their special treat, brownies. Each classroom teacher had encouraging words for their class as they presented the awards.
I went with Jackie to her grandson, Samuel Andrew Seals' graduation on May 8th at Ben's Ford Christian School held in the church. He is the son of Randy and Nicole Seal. He was enrolled at North Shore Technical Community College with 21 college hours (most in his class). He also received the National Career Readiness Certificate and Career and Technical Certificate Electrician Helper. Also graduating was our cousin Caden Carney, son of Cody and Meagan Carney, grandson of Charlie and Kay Carney, and great grandson of Jeanine Knight. Caden gave the Salutatorian address and received several awards. All the seniors had a table displayed with pictures, plaques, and trophies.
