Summer Greetings! Well folks it's still summertime. Some days it's hotter than others. But the heat will be around for at least two more months. Remember we live in Louisiana. I don't get out in the heat of the day, when I do get outside it's about 5 pm or so.
Hopefully you all had a fun and safe Fourth of July! Family and friends throughout our country gather to celebrate the fourth, with fun activities and good food. My day was rather quiet. Bryan grilled ribs, chicken, sausage, pork chops and wieners. We ate on this for three days. I fixed sides to go with it. I could hear fireworks going off all around me till up in the night.
I was invited to go to First Baptist Church Franklinton on Sunday June 15th for the baptism of Chris Burch. There were eight candidates for baptism. They also had a baby dedication and testimonies from the youth that attended Fuego Camp. Family members of Chris attended Fuego Camp. Family members of Chris were his sisters Barbara and Sara, his brother Charlie and nephew Joshua, Aunt Myra and Evelyn Burch. We all enjoyed being there. It was good to see Jimmy and Melissa Lebo and others I know.
A birthday celebration honored Joshua Burch on Saturday night, June 21st, held at the home of his dad Charlie. Family members and friends enjoyed a variety of goodies including a delicious birthday cake. Approximately twenty were there for the special occasion. The birthday boy turned 14 on June 22nd. He was excited as he opened his gifts, some being cash. Joshua was visiting his family for about two weeks before returning home to Florida. While visiting he went to the movies, out to eat and to see the animals at Global Wildlife. He had a good visit with his family and friends.
On Wednesday, June 15th, I was thinking about Richard Schilling, being his birthday. I sure do miss him chatting on the phone, going out to eat and his sense of humor. When I eat strawberry cake, I think of Rick; it was his favorite. Happy heavenly birthday Rick.
On Monday, June 23rd, four of our ladies met at the church. We made up three Sunshine Baskets, had prayer time and enjoyed visiting and eating Tang Pie and fruit salad. Gathering were Valerie Goings, Janice Schilling, Frances Schilling and I.
Janice, Frances and I enjoyed visiting with Sue Alford. She had fallen in the garden. We found her doing better. We also visited with James and Florine Sorrell. James made coffee and visited briefly. We count it a blessing to show love to others.
I've heard from my sweet Alyssa. I enjoyed a visit over the phone. They are doing well. By the way, she is expecting again and I am so happy for her and Lainey. I sure do miss her coming over to visit and sometimes cooking something. She made my day.
Continue to pray for the sick and bereaved. Christian sympathy is sent out to the Bro. John Edward Rocko family who passed away on July 4th, to the family of Russell Creel and to the family of Selvage Story McCain. Our prayers and love to you in the passing of your beloved ones.
Until next writing. Take good care of yourself, keep cool if possible. By all means keep on SMILING- Prayerfully Nell.
