Greetings to all!
Well, it's August already and time to get back to school. My, where has the time gone? Summer vacation is over, and those school bells will ring beginning tomorrow Thursday, August 7th. I look forward to seeing all my special ones. I did see some of the students in town and around. Some are ready for school to start and some are not really. Ready or not it's back to the books. There will be some new faces on campus, and someone will not be returning for some reason or another, going to a different school, and of course, the ones who graduated this past May.
It's been raining here and there for the past few days. Last Wednesday at my house, the thunder was rumbling and lightning frequently and then came the rain. We got a nice shower. It didn't last long, so I decided to go to town. Before I left town, a downpour came. Before returning home, I went to Brooks to get supper. While there I saw my friend Barbara Brock, and she told me the bad weather blew down a tree in front of her house. She was thankful the tree did not hit her house. That day we all caught our share of the rain.
WMU ladies met for our monthly meeting in the church fellowship hall. We visited briefly, catching up on the happenings and the ones to need our prayers. We had circle prayer for our church family, our church, missionaries and community. We made up one sunshine basket. We talked about toppings for ice cream that we would supply for the August 9th quarterly meeting at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church. Ladies attending were Valerie Goings, Martha June Miller, Frances Schilling, and I.
The three-day Watermelon Festival held on the Washington Parish Fair Grounds was well attended. I went on Saturday and enjoyed the singing at Down by the Branch. That night a fabulous fireworks display was enjoyed by many attendees. There were all sizes of watermelons, and several fun contests were held. Watermelon queens, all ages were there and looking good.
Happy August birthday to the following special ones; my great grandson Tyrin Paul Fitzmorris, my great niece Kadie Seal, my cousin Debra Vince, Christine King, Katie Ingram, Dusty Schilling, Lance Schilling, Scott Miller, Brady Scott Miller, Percy Raybourn, Mack Brown, Jimmy Lebo, Brian Wells, Amy Wells, Ben Wells, Asher Wells, Ellie Taylor, Sharon Taylor, Candice Beck Moesta, Chyrel Learned, Martha June Miller, Sherry Miller, Katie Miller, Jada Norman, Adyson Taylor, Kim Talley, and Khloe Maples.
Happy belated birthday to Wayne McElveen.
Following the Sunday night service in July a reception was to welcome new Pastor Bro. Keith Sherdian and the leaving of Dr. Jake Roudkovski. A time of fellowship was held in the Franklinton First Baptist Church fellowship hall. All enjoyed refreshments and fellowship. I attended the church service and reception with Chris Burch.
Don't forget! Jacob Eder will be in concert at Bayou Palace on Greenlaw Ave in Franklinton on Monday night, August 11th, beginning at 6:30 pm til 8:30 pm. I'll be looking for you to join in the fun time of music.
We have several on the prayer list at church. Pray for Charles and Jean Stafford. They are both under doctor's care. Also pray for those who have lost beloved ones.
I'll visit with you next time same time-same station. Take care and be safe. Prayerfully Nell.
