Greetings to you all! Hope this finds you doing well and keeping cool. We continue to have hot summer days, and showers of rain every day or two. Just enough rain to keep that grass growing.
During the summer I've been shelling peas, pickling cucumbers, mowing, picking up limbs, doing odd jobs, and of course cooking a good meal every night. Canning and putting things in the freezer are quite a job, but sure it is good when it comes to eating them.
When school was out I said this house will get good cleaning and things back in order, but I'm sorry to say that was not accomplished. I did a little just to get by but nothing major. I keep telling myself "Don't put off til tomorrow, what you can do today." Ha! Ha! At my age now reality gets a lot of my attention. That's life! I can't worry about keeping the house as I need to. I try to be content with things I can do and let the rest take care of itself.

Washington Parish Schools began on Thursday, August 7th. It's back to the books and learning once again. I look forward to getting back to seeing everyone. When I'm needed, I will be ready to go. This will be my 20th year to sub in the school system. The teachers are ready to teach and help the students to learn. I pray that 2025-2026 will be a great school year. It takes us all doing our part to make it happen. Let's all get on board for a fantastic year at MHS. I'm especially proud to be on the MHS team. Together we can do it.
When I opened my paper today, Wednesday, and learned that my dear friend Christella Lee Brown had passed, my heart was broken. I didn't even know she was sick. When I first met her, she and I hit it off, it seemed as if I knew her forever. One of my favorite basketball players and graduating seniors of MHS, Diamond Pouncey, married her son. My prayers and love go out to the family of my friend and correspondent of The Era-Leader, Christella. I feel blessed by knowing her.
Our love and prayers go out to the families who have lost beloved ones. Christian sympathy to the family of Mrs. Inez Brown, Eloise Spears Thomas, Rita Mal Breland, Wendell Thomas, Elaine Luper Primes, Laura Schilling and Ms. Betty Carr. Also pray for the sick, the lonely and shut-ins.
