Greetings once again! We have had some cold weather, and it has left us with sniffles, coughs and sore throats. We also got out our winter clothes and they felt good.
Friends and family helped me celebrate my belated 84th birthday. The festive celebration was held at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Fellowship/hall on Sunday afternoon, December 1st. The hall was beautifully decorated in a Hawaiian theme. A colorful balloon arch provided a special place to capture the smiling faces of those in attendance. Mannequins were dressed in Hawaiian attire. We bought it while there.
Everyone was welcomed and had the choice of a colorful lei, bracelet of bead bands to wear. The celebration began with me sharing highlights of mine and Jim's honeymoon to Hawaii. Jim and I were married in a Sunday afternoon ceremony held in the Mt. Pisgah Church on October 28th, 1984. Our seven-day honeymoon was filled with tours, lauia, and going to the Don Ho Show. We toured the pineapple fields, and processing plant, and saw where Tom Selleck lived. The fresh papaya was enjoyed every day at breakfast. One day we went to Maui by helicopter. While there we went to see the "Eye of the Needle" and visited neat shops. To Maui by helicopter. While there we went to see the eye of the needle and visited neat shops where large bunches of bananas were hanging on the porches. While we were in Hawaii, our first granddaughter, Jennifer Renee was born.
My delicious birthday cake was an Italian cream cheese and topped with the number 84 made by my sister, Jackie.
The refreshment table was filled with a variety of homemade goodies of shrimp mold, spinach dip, meatballs, little Smokies, cracker chips and dips, cheese ball, and punch bowls held red and blue Hawaiian fruit punch. was a day to remember as everyone chatted and enjoyed the birthday cake and goodies. The guests were asked to write a special memory of the birthday honoree. Some were quite interesting. My granddaughters Jennifer and Breanna did a wonderful job decorating the hall.
Breanna played Hawaiian music by Elvis throughout the afternoon. Thanks to Jennifer, Breanna, my family and friends who made my day a very special one. Also, thanks for all the nice birthday cards and gifts. I loved them all.
