Greetings and Happy Wednesday! I feel blessed to have you as my faithful friend and neighbors. Can you believe that this is the last week of October? Before we know it will be Thanksgiving, then Christmas, and 2025 will be history. The past three weeks have flown by. The ole saying "Time Flies" when you are having fun. Ha! Ha! Well, it's true. I have been having fun. I've gone from one thing to another, trip to Branson, bridal showers, weddings, and birthday parties. Last week was the fair. My body feels like I have overdone myself, and it is in need of rest. Can't wait till I get in my recliner.
Happy, happy birthday to me! On Tuesday, October 21st was my 85th birthday. I've had blessings after blessings. I've gotten several beautiful birthday cards and phone calls from my family and dear friends who love me a bunch.
I enjoyed seeing the Victory Belles perform at Covington Baptist Church on my birthday. I went with First Baptist Church Senior adults.
Another treat/blessing happened at Jack Browns. I was in line to check out. Behind me this guy only had one item, and I told him he could go before me. He thanked me, but that's not all. When the young lady told me what my bill was, I just looked at her as she said my groceries were $1.08. Surely, I had at least $20 or more. He gave her a $20 bill to pay for mine. I counted this as a special birthday blessing. I did not know him but was really surprised. By the time I got in the car, I just sat there for a minute to collect myself.
A bridal shower was held on Saturday, October 4th at 2 PM in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, honoring Macey Applegate and Jarod Lebo. Everything was beautifully decorated in the bridal colors, and an array of delicious refreshments were enjoyed by all. Numerous friends, family, and coworkers were there for the special occasion. Ladies of the church hosted the shower. Several out-of-town guests were in attendance. Macey and Jarod were thankful for all the nice, useful gifts, including cash. Word is that they will get married in January. Macey and Jarod, we love you and wish the best for you.

Please pray for my sister Lorell Morris, Janice Schilling, Linda Whaley, Margierite Lapani, Debra Burris, the shut-ins, lonely and bereaved. Christian sympathy is sent out to the dear family of Samuel Christian Smalley, age 52, who passed away on Friday morning, October 10. He is the son of Rev. Joey and Karen Miller of Franklinton. Our prayers are with you.
A few days ago, I talked with Miss Linda Whaley. She was in the hospital of North Oaks, Hammond with blood clots. I pray she is much better by now. Keep her in your prayers.
I guess you know by now that Gwen and I had a great week of vacation in Branson, MO. This was my first time meeting her. She probably thinks I'm crazy, but that's okay. I did get to know her a bit and look forward to getting to know her better. She is a delightful person. I enjoyed being with her on the trip. By the way, thanks Gwen for putting our picture and the kind words in your column.
I plan to write more about our trip. I look forward to visiting with you next week. Take care, keep on smiling! Love you! Nell
