Greetings to all my faithful readers. Believe it or not this is the last week in February. Many of us are getting spoiled, having beautiful, sunny, warm days. Before we know it, it will probably get cold again. We do know that spring time is just around the corner. Let’s try to be patient; the Lord will surely see us through it all!
Washington Parish Schools were out last week for Mardi Gras. Several of my friends enjoyed going to see the parades. I saw the Krewe of Odysseus parade that rolled down the streets of our town on Friday, February 6th at 6 pm. The Grand Marshal was Laurie Bell. This was the first year to have the Krewe of Odysseus parade in Franklinton and plans are to continue. The vehicles were all lit up. The marching sounded good. All enjoyed the parade and all the throws from those riding in the parade.
Hopefully you all had a nice Valentines Day on Saturday, February 14th. Jackie and I enjoyed going to eat catfish. She surprised me with divinity candy for my Valentine treat.
I was at school on Friday to sub for Ms. Dillon’s Kindergarten class. That afternoon we had King Cake and Valentine treats brought by the students. The first grade students did a mini mardi gras parade in the hall of our building. They did a great job and the students had fun watching them.
Our Red Hat outing was hosted by Brenda Penny on Tuesday, February 17th. She did an outstanding job decorating, door prizes, and a delicious King Cake for all to enjoy. Everyone enjoyed their favorite meal at Mike’s Catfish in Amite. All the ladies were looking good dressed in Mardi Gras attire. All had a great time of fun food and fellowship
Happy February birthday to the following, Connie Cronford, Stacy Breaux, Tammy Tugram, Teagan Ricks, Ahayan Brown, Jasmine Mckenzie, Russell Passman, Cory Falgout, Silas Ladner, Moreana Gonazales, Sgt Lionel Mark, Seggie Wilkes, Rusty Passman, Louis Raymond Hall, Kederius Henderson, Raymond Garcia II, Bobby Lilly, Michael Fox, John Ralph Smith, Devon Thomas, Russell Smith, Olivia Brown, Melody Kenn, Zyriel Taylor, and Tammy Guy.
Bro. Kevin Cefalu filled the pulpit on Sunday, February 15th at Mt. Pisgah Church in the absence of our Pastor Bro. Leonard Smith, who was sick. All enjoyed having Bro. Kevin.
Get well greetings to all who are sick in our community and surrounding area. Pray for all the needy, sick, lonely, shut-ins, and those who have lost beloved ones. Also pray for the family of Jennifer Bankston who passed away February 4th; and the family of Patrick Williamson who died on January 26th, they will surely be missed.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more news next week. Take good care of yourself and your family. Keep on “SMILING”. Prayerfully, Nell.
