January is gone already! Time is moving right along. Next, we'll be celebrating Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras.
Hopefully the New Year is treating you good so far, with the exception of the freezing cold temperatures and the snow. Hang in there, Spring is just around the corner, about two months away.
New Year's Eve gatherings are always a fun time, bringing in the new year. Bryan and I visited with Mr. Johnny and Mrs. Cathy Watkins. Ms. Cathy always makes homemade hot tamales and fresh rolls, some of our favorite. Several other goodies were also enjoyed. My granddaughter Jennifer, Jason, Emily, Emmitt and Ava were there along with other family members.
Then the next day being New Year's Day families gathered around the table to eat black-eyed peas and cabbage. The saying is one is for good luck and the other for prosperity. We all know our good fortune comes from the Lord and no other place. Some of you make New Year resolutions. I do not make a New Year's resolution because they are hard to carry out. I just try to do my very best from day to day. I enjoy making new friends and enjoy being with my old friends. Most of you know I sure do love having a good time wherever I am.
A special Hee Haw shoe was recently held at Mt Hermon United Pentacostal Church. The cast was members of the church including adults, youth and children. Everyone enjoyed hearing funny, corny jokes and music. Afterwards we all enjoyed a large variety of delicious foods set up in the church gym. Chris came by to get me, Charlie and his son went with us. Thanks to the Hee Haw Characters who put on a great show and provided lots of laughter and fun. We loved it.
Teachers, subs, school personnel and bus drivers gathered in the Mt Hermon School library for a great meal and fellowship and to honor Ms. La Homa Vernon who was retiring. We're sure going to miss her at school.
