Greetings to all my friends! Hope you are doing well; for me I’ve been to school several times now and my body needs a break. As most of you know, school will soon be out for the summer. By the way, the last day is tomorrow, May 21st. Summer vacation will surely be welcomed by teachers and students.
I pray you all had a blessed Mother’s Day weekend. Bryan took me out to lunch on Sunday. That afternoon I enjoyed visiting with several special ones over the telephone. Mothers were recognized at church. Our pastor’s message was on dedicated mothers. Alex Brock, a graduate, was recognized and presented a gift. There was no evening service.
A fish fry was held at church on Saturday, April 25th. Our pastor caught the fish and shared it with us. The fish was surely good, with several sides. Homemade ice cream was an added treat.
Alex Brock was honored with a birthday/graduation celebration Saturday afternoon, April 25th held at his home. Family and friends were there to help him celebrate. Alex is a graduate of Bowling Green, where he played football. His plans are to continue his education. He was excited as he opened his gifts and special cards containing money. Everyone who attended enjoyed a delicious meal and a special treat from Alex. By the way, I was privileged to be invited.
My sister, Jackie Smith, had a great birthday when Jacob Eder came to Franklinton. The birthday celebration was held at Bayou Place on Green Law. Her sons Randy, Mark, and Greg were there with their family, along with lots of friends and relatives. She was serenaded with everyone singing the birthday song as everyone came to pin money on her. Everyone enjoyed the music and entertainment by Jacob. Her favorite, “How Great Thou Art” was special. All enjoyed a meal of roast beef, green beans, potato salad, and dessert. A fun time was had by all in attendance. An unexpected guest was there that brought much laughter.
Happy May Birthday to the following, Chloe Raybourn, Eric Raybourn, Joley Fortenberry, Tiffany Blades, Windi Venice Fortenberry, Wendell Venice, Travis Tynes, Jonathan Alfored, Steven Chatman, Trent Grabert, Jimmy Dalmann, Adrin Raybourn, Ryan Hunter Holmes, B.B. Mrs. Louise Hart was honored with a retirement celebration, April 25th, held at the New Life Center out from Clifton. She retired after being in the MHS system for 41 years. Upon arrival she was escorted by her husband, Bennie. Everyone enjoyed special entertainment and playing bingo. The center was decorated pretty with tables set up for guests. A delicious meal was enjoyed by all. Thank you Mrs. Hart for your dedicated service to our school.
Get well wishes to Gary Stubb who had by-pass heart surgery; Mrs. Barbara Kerbow who had knee replacement, and Mrs. Valerie Goings of our church family. Also pray for Andrea Willingham Hebert who had 4 surgeries over the past three weeks. She is a sister of Shandra Thigpen, whom I’ve subbed for a week at school.
Until next writing, take care. Keep on smiling.
Prayerfully, Nell
