Happy Valentines Day to you!
February is "LOVE" month. Friday, February 14th is Valentines Day and a perfect time to exercise the four-letter word, "LOVE". It is a small word but has much meaning. For some people it is a daily thing to show love. On the other hand, there are those who don't know what it means and never show love to others. First, God loved us and sent his son Jesus. In return we are to show love to others.
Ladies don't forget the meeting on Saturday February 15th at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Bogalusa. The meeting will begin at 11 am til 1 pm. Join us for lunch and fellowship devotion and door prizes.
A baby shower was held on Sunday after church January 12th and held in the church fellowship. Breanna Cefalu was honored and showered with gifts for her soon to be baby Kallie Kay. She was very appreciative for all the love shown. Family and friends were in attendance.
Mt. Hermon Baptist Church hosted a Soup-On New Year's luncheon on Saturday January 18th.
Ivy Kennedy director of the Washington Baptist Association Women's Mission and ministry presided over the meeting. Her theme was "Looking Back and Looking Forward." We played a fun game, "What's in your Purse"? Door prizes were awarded. There were six different types of soup with crackers and desserts that were enjoyed by approximately forty-five in attendance. I learned what a "FLIGHT" was. It is sip small cups placed in a muffin tin and has different tasty types of soup in theme. This is what I had. You could also get a bowl of your favorite soup. It was your choice. The delicious desserts were provided by the Bogue Chitto Church ladies. Attending from Mt. Pisgah were Nell, Frances, Cherie with daughters Alexus and Reagan. By the way I was excited to meet a brand-new friend Connie Cranford from Bogalusa. The luncheon was delightful. Thanks to the ladies who prepared the meal.
My son Ken (tator head) Alford would have celebrated his birthday on February 4th. We surely do miss him. Rest in peace my dear son. I love you.

My sister Jackie was very well pleased with the turn out for the Quilt Seminary held on Saturday, February 1st. Those on the program did a super job. By the way she asked me to put the recipe for my "Cherry Delight" in my column which was served with the lunch. Everyone loved it. Ladies here is the recipe- 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 2-8 oz cool whip mix together, add 1 can cherry pie filling, mix well, refrigerate before serving, and top with nuts if desired.
Pray for the sick in our community and surrounding areas. Also pray for the Jeff Roberts family, and Robert Stafford family. We were happy to prepare a meal for these two families held in the church fellowship hall. They both surely will be missed.
I look forward to visiting with you next week. Don't forget to show love to the special one in your life, with flowers, chocolates, a hug. Take care, enjoy the beautiful weather and pray for all the needs in our community. Prayerfully Nell.
