A special hello to all of my faithful readers. Can you believe we are already in the middle of September? Our Washington Parish Free Fair is just around the corner and will be here before we know it. Many of you are waiting to have some cooler weather. Hopefully October will be cooler than now.
I've been to school several days now and have had the privilege of meeting some of the new teachers. The ones I met were nice. While visiting with my granddaughter Jennifer and Jason, my great grandson Emmett took my picture on the phone. A few minutes later, he brought me a drawing he drew from the picture. I couldn't believe it looked so much like the picture. He is only 7 years old. Who knows, he may be an artist one of these days.
Several in our community/area have had the Covid. I surely hope that stuff doesn't break out again. The Covid is what killed my brother-in-law, Bobby Smith.
Many of you have been hearing disturbing things about our school, MHS. I don't know much about the situation. The school board wants to close 7th grade through 12th grade next year. Many of our parents and community are really upset about the change. Even though I do not have any of my family in these grades, it saddens me.
I can't do anything about what happens, but I can pray about the situation and ask God to take care of it. Whatever the outcome, we'll try to make the best of it. Sometimes we can't have our way, so lets all work together for what is best for our students. I have a special place in my heart for our students. You see, during my twenty years at MHS, I have grown to love them and also have had a part of their learning. f they are sent to another school, I won't get to see them as I do now. Remember, God is still in control of all things.

Christian sympathy is sent out to the family of Willie Mae Rogers McElveen. She passed away August 28 at the age of 90 at North Oaks Medical Center. She was a hard worker all her life. She and I grew up in the same community and attended Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church. For many years, she cut and styled hair. I can remember going to her to get my hair fixed. That was many years ago. She will be greatly missed by her children and especially her grands and great grand children. Our prayers are with you during this time.
Continue to remember the sick and the needs around you.
