Greetings once again!
We've been blessed with some beautiful sunshine and comfortable temperatures in the 70's. I sure have been enjoying the springtime weather. It's a matter of fact I've been seeing the trees budding and blooming. According to the groundhog seeing his shadow, we will have some more cold weather to come. Hopefully it won't get very cold to damage the fruit trees, etc. Remember we usually have a cool Easter snap.
Saturday, February 1st the Annual Quilt Seminar was held at the D.A. Varnado Store Museum Annex. Several ladies were on the program giving demonstrations on quilting and sewing techniques. Showing their beautiful quilts and ideas were Sarah Tregre, Mary Beverly, Debbie Yount, Becky Creel, Judy Henson, Leesa Pierce, and Valerie Brooks. I invited my dear friend Barbara Smith to come. She also enjoyed lunch and the program. We both won a door prize. I'm not a quilter but I enjoyed seeing the program and visiting. My sister Jackie is the quilt chairperson. It was an enjoyable day for everyone.
For the past two years, I've hosted our Red Hat meeting in January. Last year in January we had ice everywhere. Due to the weather only five of us were there. Our crowd was small but had a great meal and fellowship. This year my meeting was set for January 22 at Sugar Shack. Guess what! Snow was predicted and I had to rescheduled for January 30. It was a beautiful day, and eighteen Red Haters attended. For the past few meetings I've been at school, (not attending). During that time, we got three new members. They are Debbie McKelvin, Kathy McKelvin, and Erica Jean Lulue. We had a fun time playing the white elephant game. Several one door prizes. All enjoyed lunch with king cake and ice cream. Additional desserts were chocolate cream, dessert, and cherry delight that I made, before leaving I told the girls I'm going to leave the January meeting to them from now on, maybe I'll host a summer meeting and not have to worry about ice and snow. Ha! Ha!
Celebrating February birthdays are the following. Have a blessed day. My special one Alyssa Miller, Eden Miller, Ms. Joan Grabert, Hayden Ashley, Adrianne Tate, Jolee Rogers, Autumn Bergin, Graysen Wills, Cassidy Imborn, D'antrae Jefferson, Rashad Oatis, Jerome Martin, Jordan and George Sandifer Smith, Koal Kitzler, Malik Dyson, Howard James, Brayden Bryan, Tyler Schilling, Nicholis Spears, Raymond Garcia, Bobby Lilly, Michael Fox, John Ralph Smith, Russell Smith, and Ms. Julie Braswell.
I'm looking forward to a couple of days of rest. I've been to school seven days straight and I need a break.
Pray for the sick, shut-ins, lonely and the family who have lost loved ones and each other.
Attention! The drained crush pineapple was left out of the Cherry Delight recipe that was in last week's news.
Take care and have a blessed week. Prayerfully Nell.
