The Nation's Weather for Saturday, January 4, 2025
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A glaze of ice can occur across much of Kansas tomorrow,
especially in the afternoon as a major winter storm develops
over the southern Plains. Even a trace of ice on untreated
roads and sidewalks can make travel difficult. Snow will
cover much of the Rockies and can extend into some of the
northern Plains in eastern Montana, much of South Dakota
western North Dakota and eastern Nebraska. Lake-effect snow
is expected to continue downwind of the Great Lakes,
especially east of Lake Ontario just north of Syracuse and
northwestern Pennsylvania. A Northwest storm can bring
showers to western Oregon and Washington, with a little
mountain snow in the Cascades. The arctic air mass will
continue to expand into the Plains and Great Lakes.
