NATIONAL SUMMARY
Showers on the periphery of a large offshore storm will
rotate back to the East Coast from southeastern Virginia to
Florida, as the storm moves westward tomorrow. This same
system will produce strong rip currents, rough surf, minor
coastal flooding and some beach erosion from North Carolina
southward. Severe thunderstorms capable of producing
torrential downpours, hail, tornadoes and damaging wind
gusts will develop in the late afternoon from eastern North
Dakota and western Minnesota, southward to Kansas. Heavy
rain may cause flooding in eastern Montana and western North
Dakota. Strong winds will buffet southeastern Wyoming, far
southwestern South Dakota, western Nebraska and the higher
elevations of central Colorado. A new storm will spread rain
ashore in the Pacific Northwest.
