NATIONAL SUMMARY
The surge of extreme heat will continue tomorrow in the
central and southern United States. Highs in the 90s will
reach as far north as northern Michigan, with triple-digit
heat possible as far north as Ohio and southern Michigan.
Heat will also make a return in portions of the Southwest,
with interior California having above-average temperatures
after a brief cooldown. Thunderstorms will erupt along the
edges of this intense heat, with severe storms possible from
Missouri to Minnesota. Hail, damaging winds and tornadoes
will all be possible. Along the East coast, more generic
afternoon thunderstorms are expected. A stronger storm with
gusty winds and heavy rain cannot be ruled out, but
widespread severe weather will not be likely.
