The Nation's Weather for Saturday, October 1, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Ian will transition to a tropical rainstorm tomorrow, with
rain falling from southern New England southward to North
Carolina. The highest risk of flooding rain will be in
eastern West Virginia and western Virginia. Farther north,
ponding on roadways can occur in the urban corridor between
New York City and Philadelphia. Onshore winds will cause
coastal flooding at times of high tide, beach erosion and
rough surf from the Massachusetts coast southward to
northern North Carolina. A dry day is expected in Florida,
which will allow flood waters to recede. It will be
seasonably warm for cleanup efforts. Elsewhere, numerous
thunderstorms are forecast to rumble through the northern
Rockies. Spottier thunderstorms are expected in the central
Rockies. Much of the West Coast will have a sunny day.
