The Nation's Weather for Thursday, December 8, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Dry air associated with high pressure will expand over the
Northeast states today. The next storm in a series will
evolve over the southern Plains. This storm is forecast to
spread areas of drenching rain from northeastern Texas to
Missouri then on to the east to southern Indiana, Kentucky
and Tennessee. Enough rain can fall to lead to urban and
small-stream flooding. Runoff will help to raise water
levels on the Ohio and lower Mississippi rivers. A stripe of
snow is expected to extend from Nebraska to parts of Ohio,
Iowa, southern Minnesota and Wisconsin as the day turns to
night. Much of the interior West will be dry ahead of the
next storm. However, that system will spread rain from
western Washington to Northern California with snow for the
Cascades and later the northern Sierra Nevada.
