The Nation's Weather for Thursday, March 9, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Accumulating snow from central North Dakota to northern
Nebraska and eastward to Minnesota and northern Iowa will
lead to rapidly deteriorating road conditions and slow and
slippery travel tomorrow. An atmospheric river will bring
increasingly heavy rain and mountain snow to Northern and
Central California, especially by the afternoon. In addition
to the heavy rain, melting snow in the foothills will add to
the flooding concern. Elsewhere, rain and even a few
thunderstorms can be expected to the south of the snow area.
Rain will stretch from Kansas to central and southern
Illinois. Thunder may rumble near the Red River and eastward
to the Mississippi River. Most of the Northeast will be dry,
although a few flurries and snow showers are likely to fly
in northern New England.
