The Franklinton Waverley Club began a new tradition this past Sunday with the lighting of Christmas lights on the Rock House and the Waverley Triangle in Downtown Franklinton.
Each year, with the help of Chip McVea, Bobby Stafford, John David Schilling and Robbie Stringfield, Angela McVea and Marsha Newman direct the huge task of lighting the property.
On hand for Sunday's event were Janna Rushing and Avery James who led the crowd singing Christmas carols. Santa and three elves were present to take photos and requests for Christmas morning.
Despite the rush of colder temperatures, it was a wonderful time. The lights will be on each evening until New Year's and everyone is invited to ride by or take a stroll and enjoy the Christmas spirit.
Before returning to the North Pole, Santa declared, "It is Christmas time in Franklinton!"
