Winterset Club holds final meeting of club year

The Winterset Club held its last meeting of the 2023-2024 club year on May 20, 2024. Members gathered at Eat Out Mexican Restaurant in downtown Franklinton. After a delicious meal, Judy Bullock led the group in a this/that game. Jean Wales introduced her guest, Kim Kirby.

Rayburn inmate found guilty of attacking prison officer, to be sentenced July 8

On May 22 a Washington Parish jury found 51-year-old Bruce Stipe of New Orleans guilty of “Battery of a correctional facility employee” involving an attack on a Rayburn Correctional Center officer. Assistant District Attorney Luke Lancaster presented the case to the jury and Judge Ellen Creel presided over the trial.
