Daniel Lawrence Phelps, 76, a lifelong resident of the Lawrence Creek Community passed away Wednesday morning February 16, 2022 at his home. He was a merchant seaman at the young age of 17 and worked on boats his entire career. Daniel later became a tugboat captain, piloting “The Harry Mack” and “Robert Greene” up and down the mighty Mississippi River until he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Daniel also enjoyed cooking for his family and many friends.

5 Grandchildren and Spouses: Jacob Phelps, Jordan and McKayla Phelps, Alyssa Phelps, Addyson Phelps, Conner Holmes and Mya Thomas

Nieces: Deirdra Phelps, Amanda Lang
Mother of his children: Patricia “Trish” Barber
Also numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Timothy Lawrence Phelps, parents Lawrence Phelps and Loulie Magee Phelps, brother David Phelps.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday February 19th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 12:00 pm on Sunday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Sunday with Eld. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the Magee Cemetery at Lawrence Creek.
