David Ray Jenkins September 1955- September 2024 David was born in September of 1955, in Hammond, Louisiana to Harlan and Lillie "Ann" Jenkins. David moved to Forrest Hill, California during his late high school years. He earned an Integral Arts degree from St. Mary's College and a Juris Doctorate from King Hall, UC Davis. He moved to Fresno, California to accept a position at a law firm in 1985. David thoroughly enjoyed practicing law for 42 years and opened his own law firm in 2003. David claimed he was "just a sweet, shy boy from Southeast Louisiana." He shared his southern traditions with his family, friends and colleagues by cooking Gumbo, Jambalaya and Etouffee while regaling everyone with stories from his childhood. His lifelong friend, Dr. Mark James of Franklinton, and David's cousin, Walter Jenkins, became two of his "go-to-people" as he faced the ongoing effects of Parkinson's. His southern accent was always just a bit stronger after these calls, but his heart was a little lighter.
David passed September 15, 2024. David is survived by his wife of 30 years Katrina, his sons Daniel Jenkins, Andrew Jenkins, his daughter -in-law Nicole Jenkins, granddaughter Maven, grandson Jett, and his sisters Glenna and Lois.
