Joel Winston Fussell, 73, a resident of Franklinton died Monday January 3, 2022 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He worked at Southern Natural Gas for 20 years and then began a 20 year career for Diamond Offshore Drilling in the inventory department, before retiring in 2016. Joel was an avid sports fan, especially the LSU Tigers. He truly enjoyed coaching youth sports for many years and watching his grandchildren in the sports and activities they participated in. Joel loved fishing and was a member of the BASS association. He always enjoyed spending time with his family.

Son and Daughter in law: Timothy and Ellen Fussell of Crowley
Daughter and Son in law: Meredith and Ryan Jordan of Madisonville
Grandchildren: Mary Ellen Fussell, Ryan Jordan, Jr. Grayson Jordan, Alexandra Jordan
Brothers and Sisters in law: Keith and Suzannah Fussell, Charles Ray and Brenda Fussell
Sisters in law and Brothers in law: Kathy and Douglas Johnston, Nancy and Frank Brown
Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members
He was preceded in death by an infant son Derek Hardy Fussell, father Winston “Red” Fussell, mother Billie Sue Welch Manuel and step-brother Ricky Manuel.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Friday January 7th from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Friday with Rev. Percy Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the Fisher United Methodist Church Cemetery.
