Johnny Curtis “J.C.” Tarver, 81, a resident of Franklinton passed away Friday afternoon October 13, 2023 at Riverside Medical Center. He was a longtime carpenter and also operated a family dairy farm for many years. J.C. was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing frequent card games with his good buddies and he loved spending time with his family.

3 Sons and Daughters in law: Mark Tarver and Barbara Clement, Johnnie Tarver and Bernesie Jarrell all of Franklinton,
James and Bernice Miller of the Monroe’s Creek Community
8 Grandchildren: Tiffany Burch, Desiree’ Lyons, Joshua Stevens, Johnny “Jon” Tarver, Levi Tarver, Peyton Walker, Katie Barber, Samantha Magee
5 Great-grandchildren: Sierra Burch, Haylie Lyons, Elizabeth Barber, Noah Barber, Lucas Magee, Preston Stevens
Great-great-grandchild: James Monroe-Lee Burch

Also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Naomi “June” Penton Tarver, his parents William Curtis Tarver and Mary Elizabeth Stinson Tarver, brothers Roland Money, Lavoy Tarver, a sister Jeraline Mitchell and great-grandchild Jaycee Burch.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday October 15th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Sunday with Bro. Gary King and Rev. Larry Archote officiating. Burial will follow in the Tarver Family Cemetery at his home.
