Julia Faye Thames Holmes, 76, a resident of Franklinton passed away Saturday morning December 16, 2023 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was a social worker for the state of Louisiana for 20 years, serving clients throughout Washington Parish and surrounding areas. She loved making arts and crafts and could have been an outstanding decorator as her home was always decorated perfectly. Judy enjoyed reading, traveling the backroads of Mississippi and she loved to visit the mountains in Tennessee and Arkansas. Judy enjoyed listening to all different types of her favorite music and she loved to spend quality time with her family and grandchildren. Her family was everything to her. Judy was a selfless, kind and loving woman who always put her family and friends above herself.

Grandchildren and Spouses: Zack and Ashley Holmes, Ryan Holmes, Aaron and Desaray Holloman, Alizabeth Davis, Amber and Brian Robins, Kandis Simmons, Katelin and Jared Allen
Great-grandchildren: Avery Holloman, Caius Holloman and 9 other great-grandchildren
Sisters: Virginia “Ginger” Ferguson of Wilmer, Theresa Cooper of Franklinton
Also numerous brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her son Michael Wayne “Mike” Barber, parents Prentiss Thames and Josephine Rials Thames, brothers Roger Thames, Larry Thames, Dale Thames, father in law and mother in law C.L. and Mary Ethel Holmes and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday December 20th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Thursday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Thursday with Rev. Rick Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.
