Julia Marie “Julie” Knight, 70, passed away Friday morning August 23, 2024 at Fair City Health and Rehab. She was born in Franklinton on January 5, 1954 and was a former longtime resident of Hammond. After high school graduation, Julie moved to Hammond in a group-living situation with others like herself. Years later, she moved into an independent apartment and would volunteer frequently, alongside her friends, at OPTIONS. Julie longed for the day she could return “home” to Franklinton, and after a recent hospital stay, her loved ones were able to move her back to Washington Parish six months ago. She will be sadly missed by her family and all those that cared for her through the years.

Sister in law: Dora Dillon Knight of Franklinton
Also numerous special cousins and their families
She was preceded in death by her parents J.L. Knight, Sr. and Roxie Morris Knight, brother James L. Knight, Jr., her grandparents and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday August 25th from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 4:00 pm Sunday with Rev. Frederick Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.
